Abstract

Nasikh is usually considered a second-rate poet in Urdu, and his work is often linked only to language and style. But in fact, Ghalib himself accepted Nasikh as his mentor. After Ghalib, the poet who reached great heights extracting from Sabk-e-Hindi (Indian style) was Nasikh. Nasikh openly admitted that he learned from Mir. This article tries to find Mir’s poetic style and influence in Nasikh’s poetry.
