Plagiarism—using another person’s ideas, words, or work without proper acknowledgment, including reusing one’s own previous work without citation—is treated as a serious academic violation for students, teachers, researchers, and staff. The policy defines plagiarism, explains how complaints should be submitted, and outlines an investigation process conducted by a designated committee. Penalties vary according to the severity of the offence, ranging from warnings and grade deductions to expulsion for students, and from suspension of research privileges to dismissal and blacklisting for faculty or staff. Institutions are responsible for educating their members about these rules, and false accusations are also subject to disciplinary action. Gul-o-Berg Research Journal (Urdu) strictly adheres to this policy and does not tolerate any form of plagiarism. All submissions are checked through HEC-recommended software as well as manual review, and authors are asked to revise or properly cite sources if any similarity is detected. The allowable similarity index is a maximum of 19%; manuscripts exceeding 20% similarity must be revised, otherwise they are rejected. Authors must also formally declare that their work is original and not under consideration elsewhere, using the undertaking form provided on the journal’s website۔
